Takeshi Egami is a distinguished scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and director of the Joint Institute for Neutron Sciences. He is an expert in structure-property relationships in materials, neutron and x-ray scattering of amorphous and crystalline materials, atomistic theory, modeling of solids and liquids, magnetism, ferroelectricity, superconductivity, computer simulations, and atomic structural analysis. He pioneered the development of new techniques to determine the atomic structure and motion of the atoms in solids, using both neutron and x-ray scattering.
Topics of expertise: High-temperature superconductivity, magnetism, atomic structure of liquids and glasses, neutron scattering, computer simulations, atomic structural analysis, and international collaboration in science.
