Elbio Dagotto is a distinguished professor at UT and a distinguished scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He studies transition metal oxides and the recently discovered iron arsenide materials, which become superconductors at temperatures as high as 55 kelvins. He is an expert in the computer simulation of self-organizing complex materials, which has great potential in the world of shrinking computer-chip devices.

Topics of expertise: Transition metal oxides, superconductors, and numerical simulations
