David F. Cihak, Ph.D. is an associate professor and program coordinator of the Special Education and Educational Technology Program at UT. Cihak also is a co-investigator of the FUTURE post-secondary education program. He is currently the president-elect of the Council for Exceptional Children’s Division on Autism and Developmental Disabilities. He teaches both undergraduate and graduate level teacher preparation coursework regarding students with severe disabilities. His work regards remedying classroom-based problems associated with academic and social/behavioral problems of children and adolescents with severe disabilities and autism. He is interested in self-regulation and independent functioning that result in greater competency, community access, and acceptance. His research interests include the use of effective instructional and behavioral strategies, specifically emerging technologies for improving educational, functional, and social/communicative outcomes.
