Chuck Maland is an expert in movies and their relationship to American culture. He has written books about the work of Frank Capra, John Ford, Charlie Chaplin and Orson Welles. He is completing an edition of James Agee's movie reviews and criticism for UT Press's Complete Works of James Agee. His other books include Frank Capra, Chaplin and American Culture: The Evolution of a Star Image, and City Lights, a volume in the BFI Film Classics Series. He is able to talk about a variety of topics relate to the movies, including directors, film genres, and the relationship between movies and American culture.
