Bharat Mehra is an expert in diversity and intercultural issues, as well as social justice and social equity, as they relate to libraries, library users, and the field of information science. His published research has focused in on LGBTIQ representations in these areas, rural libraries, people living with HIV/AIDS, and children with special needs. Mehra has a bachelor's degree from the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi, India. He has a master's of landscape architecture, a master's degree in South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and a doctorate in library and information science, all from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
